Chef Saruj is self-taught and earned his 25 years of experience from owning his own Thai quick-service restaurant. It is called Chelsea Thai, located in Chelsea Market for 20 years.
Then he became a Thai restaurant startup consultant. He learned most of his cooking experience from the best teacher, his mother. His roots are home-cooking, comfort food, and street food style.
His latest position was Sous Chef at the Pierre Hotel.

Chef Saruj was very detailed, well spoken, and funny. We had a great time taking the class and really enjoyed the way he cooked.
I really appreciated his attention to detail when he referred to the ingredients he used, where to get them, and what alternatives were available. When he spoke about alternatives, he made sure to include different measurements based on sodium content or flavor.
Overall, Saruj was a great chef and instructor!

The instructor was entertaining and made the class fun. He is a great instructor. The cooking was easy, and I am someone who does not cook. The food was delicious and the overall experience was very enjoyable. I look forward to taking more classes.
