Chef Saruj is self-taught and earned his 25 years of experience from owning his own Thai quick-service restaurant. It is called Chelsea Thai, located in Chelsea Market for 20 years.
Then he became a Thai restaurant startup consultant. He learned most of his cooking experience from the best teacher, his mother. His roots are home-cooking, comfort food, and street food style.
His latest position was Sous Chef at the Pierre Hotel.

The class was great! We loved that Saruj told us the story of pad Thai and explained all the ingredients very thoroughly. We had a great time cooking and the pad Thai tasted amazing. Would definitely do this again!

Saruj was so lovely and kind! He kept us laughing, walked us through everything in detail. I’m vegetarian and he accommodated me at every point, even showing me how I should change the recipe in order to get the same flavor and texture without eggs or meat. He was truly awesome. Excited to take one of his other classes soon!

Chef Saruj was fantastic! He did a great job teaching and made the class exciting. I love that he explained each ingredient in detail, where to find them, and what to use as substitutes if you don't have the exact ingredients available. This made it easy and exciting to try the recipe again at home!
