Chef Saruj is self-taught and earned his 25 years of experience from owning his own Thai quick-service restaurant. It is called Chelsea Thai, located in Chelsea Market for 20 years.
Then he became a Thai restaurant startup consultant. He learned most of his cooking experience from the best teacher, his mother. His roots are home-cooking, comfort food, and street food style.
His latest position was Sous Chef at the Pierre Hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our class with Chef Suraj! We’ve tried (unsuccessfully) to make drunken noodles at home, but now we know all the secrets! Highly recommend this class for a delicious and fun experience

I was so happy to have had this experience and was so pleased that he taught my daughter and I how to make the authentic Thai dishes that we love. If you love Thai food, this class is highly recommended!

Chef Saruj did an amazing job! He was informative, helpful, patient, and was genuinely interested in us having a great experience and actually learning something. He provided tips for how to prepare the dish at home, which was very much appreciated. I took two high school students and was not certain how much they would enjoy it, but they both loved it and want to do another class with Chef Saruj the next time we are in NYC. I cannot recommend this class enough.
