Chef Saruj is self-taught and earned his 25 years of experience from owning his own Thai quick-service restaurant.  It is called Chelsea Thai, located in Chelsea Market for 20 years.

Then he became a Thai restaurant startup consultant.  He learned most of his cooking experience from the best teacher, his mother. His roots are home-cooking, comfort food, and street food style.

His latest position was Sous Chef at the Pierre Hotel.

What a great experience! The chef explained everything about the recipe as well as added history and cultural background about the ingredients and dishes we cooked :) Because of his insistence we may even go to Thailand for our anniversary trip!

My daughter and I attended this Pad Thai cooking class while visiting NYC, and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip. The chef shared his family’s authentic Pad Thai recipe that was passed down from his grandmother in Thailand, which made the experience feel incredibly special and personal. He was not only an amazing instructor, but also so informative and patient. He answered every question we had and made sure we knew exactly where to buy the ingredients so we could recreate the dish at home. I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for an authentic, fun, and meaningful cooking experience!
