Chef Alex is a Peruvian Chef who’s been in the industry for over 12 years, both in Peru and throughout a number of restaurants and hotels in the United States.  He was born in Celendin (Cajamarca), a little town in the mountains of Peru, but he grew up in Callao on the coast of Lima where he learned all about seafood and the importance and beauty of fresh fish.  His love for Japanese food started as a fusion of cultures, or as the Peruvians call it Nikkei (Peruvian-Japanese). He also had the opportunity to work with sushi in Miami a couple years ago, where he learned the importance of simplicity and respect for the traditional Japanese method.  Chef Alex loves all food and is also well-versed in pasta, as he had a little home restaurant back in Peru serving up fresh pasta dishes with quality ingredients.  He is so happy to be your Chef instructor and very excited to express and share his passion for the culinary world!

Chef was great! He made it easy to follow along and we left the class with 3 whole Sushi rolls. Loved he and wife’s energy :)

Chef Alex and his wife, who I am so sorry I am forgetting her name, were nothing short of wonderful. Really made the class engaging and enjoyable. Was a fun experience and I would certainly be interested in doing another class or in the future when i have enough money to have Chef Alex cook for an event or something. The only things I’d say is I wish we had maybe less vegetables and more fish! I would have loved to made a tuna roll as well. Also when making the first roll, maybe it could be easier for the students to go step by step, and then speed it up. The first roll we watched him do it completely then did it ourselves and I think that overwhelmed some. Overall would 1000% recommend this for a date night, family night, night with parents etc. my girlfriend and I had a great time and would definitely do it again.

Class was amazing! Moved at the right pace. It was often hard to see what the chef was doing so a screen and camera would be helpful for the entire room to be able to follow along and see.
