Kids Summer Camp: Sushi Making

Description

Sushi is the perfect cooking class for kids! It's part culinary and part art project. Either way, they get to use their hands to make something delicious from scratch.

If you don't have a mat or chopsticks at home, it's no problem! Our Chef Instructor will teach an alternative method to rolling sushi using parchment paper. All that's needed are some simple ingredients, patience, and creativity! Please prepare the sushi rice ahead of class using the recipe you will receive in your confirmation email. You will then learn how to season your rice during class so it's ready to roll into sushi.

Join Chef Jen in her Chicago kitchen, where she will teach you step-by-step how to make veggie and shrimp tempura rolls.

Invite your friends and family to join you for class so you can connect virtually and enjoy a fun evening (or afternoon) creating something delicious together from scratch. No experience is required! You'll have the opportunity to interact with Chef Jen throughout the class and ask questions as you go.

You will receive an email with the equipment and ingredients list. However, the main ingredients required to participate along with the chef in your own kitchen include: nori, sushi rice, avocado, mango, cucumber, crabmeat, shrimp, sesame seeds, all purpose flour, egg whites, vegetable oil, ice cubes, mayonnaise, sriracha, lime, salt, sugar, rice vinegar, and any condiments you'd like to add!

Measure out and prepare your ingredients ahead of the session, grab your apron, and let’s get cooking! CocuSocial Kids Summer Camp classes are ideal for kids 6 years and older. Younger kids are welcome to join, but we recommend having a parent or guardian participating in the class along with them. Safety first!

Tickets are on a per-person basis. The class times are in Eastern Time!

The zoom link wouldn’t work right on my laptop - I couldn’t see the teacher’s video or unmute myself. When I switched to my iPad, the zoom linked worked normally. It was a fun class and the teacher was great! Thank you!
