Dumplings & Lo Mein

Description

Discover the flavor-packed world of dumplings!

In this hands-on and interactive class, you will be guided step-by-step through refining your knife skills, making dumpling fillings and learning the art of folding your dumpling wrappers into various traditional shapes: mandu, gyoza, and shumai. Turn these shapes into delicious ground chicken & ginger dumplings.

Class will begin with an introductory history lesson on the origins of dumplings and their impact on Asian cultures. Our Chef Instructor will also take you through an easy lo mein recipe to enjoy with your dumplings, and keep on the back burner for easy week night meals.

You can't beat an intro to knife skills tutorial while you prep all of your own ingredients. Once you have created your masterpieces, you will then plate and devour your creations with your new found foodie friends!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Guests in the same booking party will work together throughout the class by sharing ingredients and equipment. Outside drinks are not allowed and drinks are NOT included in the ticket price. Drinks will be available for purchase at the bar. 21+ only

Meet your chef instructor

Chef Trenica is a native New Orleanian, who came to Houston about 19 years ago. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and worked in the oil and gas industry, before realizing that her love and passion for people would work best in a different “white jacket".

Since being born and raised in New Orleans, food came natural to her since childhood, but she yearned to continue her education and study cuisine.

Today, Trenica is both a Chef and Nutritionist. She has catered to the most elite professionals and celebrities in Houston and has started to prepare food competitions for NFL, NBA players, and celebrities. Her favorite role of all is teaching cooking classes. It simply brings the best out of her, along with her love for people and food!

2012 Dallas St, Houston, TX
True Anomaly is a brewery for people who do things differently, a launchpad for fermented exploration. We believe dedication, experimentation, and calculated risks can take you further. We seek to fill in the edges of the map with bold flavors and ingredients, exploring new depths of flavor when striking out in a new direction. Taking risks is part of our DNA. We don’t take them just to say we did. We take them because of the result — bold brews we’re proud to share with fellow adventure-seekers. #DrinkBoldly

I enjoyed the experience, even though the class was moved at last moment. Trenica was prepared and very patience with everyone. She made everyone feel like they were wanted and relaxed. I plan on making another class, hopefully a mozzarella.

Chef Jennifer was great! My mom, sister and I had a wonderful time. Making the dumplings was so much easier than we thought. Chef Jennifer explained the base approach to flavoring and technique. We are excited to sign up for our next class.
