Taught by an expert Chef Instructor Manjiri, who was born and raised in India, this class will open your eyes and palate to the world of Indian cuisine. Whether you are experienced with Indian dishes or a novice who is just starting to dabble with this vibrant, flavorful cuisine, you are in for a real treat this afternoon.

In this memorable, hands-on class, you will learn how to prep and cook three dishes for a complete feast. On the menu this afternoon are cucumber raita, a refreshing yogurt salad with fresh cucumber, chana masala, one of the most popular Indian curries made with protein rich chickpeas, and mutter pulao, a rice pilaf studded with green peas and fragrant with aromatic spices. Chef Manjiri will take you through a detailed demonstration, before you will be guided step-by-step in execution. Master these approachable recipes and get ready to wow your guests and friends at the next dinner party!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.

Meet your chef instructor
Born and raised in India, Chef Manjiri has 20+ years of experience cooking delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. Her cooking class journey has been on for 10+ years with starting off as an Indian cooking instructor at Fairfax County Public Schools (Adult Education Department) and then moving on to private in-home classes. Chef Manjiri loves to teach easy, tasty food in a fun, hands on way. The recipes can be altered to make vegan recipes and are cooked using fresh ingredients.

Where the class will be
Guest requirement
The class will take place in Chef's home, where Chef will implement utmost safety and sanitation measures on behalf of the guests. Guests are invited to BYOB wine, champagne or beer. Guests are also highly encouraged to bring their own aprons and containers for any leftover to class. Masks should be worn at all times except when you are seated at your table/work station. You will be seated with others in your party, otherwise social distancing guidelines will be in place.
Cancellation policy
Reschedule request have to be made at least 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. Cancellations are not permitted and tickets are non-refundable.See terms and policy.

Chef Manjiri was friendly and personable. She introduced herself and her back story before we delved into the recipes. And asked for ours. Her instructions were oral and written — both were clear. She knew her spices!!! We talked about some “spice hacks” and where to buy these. We then went to the stove and cooked! She was encouraging. And was able to walk us through a 3 dish lunch!! Which was deeeelicios. Plenty of leftovers, too.
