In this highly interactive and hands-on class, your chef instructor will enrich you with tips and tricks of making delicious sushi rolls, from preparing the perfect sushi rice, cutting the fresh ingredients properly, and the art of rolling. This casual and easy to follow class will surely engage all your senses! All participants will make three variations - California Roll, Salmon Roll, and Philadelphia Roll.
This class is NOT BYOB! The hosting venue will provide a variety of drinks available for purchase. Bring your curiosity and appetite! You can be confident this class will be an absolute delight whether the occasion is for a family activity, team building event, or surprising your partner on a romantic date.
A San Jose native, Phillip graduated from San Jose State with a degree in communication studies. Starting his culinary career in fine dining, Chef Phillip moved to San Diego where he learned a variety of culinary styles. He created everything from tapas to bar food to fusion style concepts, and worked popups at some of San Diego's breweries as well as weddings and in-home teaching classes where he created farm to table, freshly made dishes. Chef Phillip has also spent time being a private Chef for families throughout his career, catering celebrations from anniversaries to birthdays, graduations, and baby showers. He has experience in both front and back of house and is Michelin trained. Chef Phillip provides a welcoming hands on experience when it comes to teaching and showing people about something he truly is passionate about.
This class is NOT BYOB. The hotel bar will offer a variety of drinks available for purchase. Please arrive 15 min early to check in and settle in. The nature of our classes are set up so that booking parties will work together during class, sharing both ingredients and equipment.
To ensure the safety and enriching experience of all participants, we require children aged 14 to 17 be accompanied by a parent or guardian during our cooking classes. Classes are intended for adults 21+.
