Sushi Making Class with a Tokyo Chef

Description

Roll like a pro — even if it's your first time!

Join our Chef Instructor, trained in Tokyo, for a fun, hands-on sushi-making experience! You'll learn to make sushi completely from scratch — cooking and seasoning the rice, prepping ingredients, and mixing your own sauce. Each step is broken down and demonstrated before you try it yourself, so it's easy to follow no matter your experience level.

What You Will Learn:

You'll make three rolls using two different techniques. First, you'll roll a California Roll and a Salmon Roll, American-style with the rice on the outside. Then you'll try the traditional Japanese method, rolling a Vegetable Roll with the nori (seaweed) on the outside. Along the way, you'll pick up real sushi-rolling technique you can take home and use again.

No Experience Necessary:

Whether you're here with family, a team from work, a group of neighbors, or on a date night, this class is designed to be casual, social, and beginner-friendly. No prior cooking experience is required, and you can participate in every step or simply enjoy the experience at your own pace. All ingredients, tools, and equipment are provided — all you need to bring is your appetite!

Please Arrive 15 Minutes Early to Check In:

You will be seated with your booking party. Guests in the same booking party will work together throughout the class by sharing ingredients and equipment. Drinks are not included in the ticket price; however, guests 21+ are invited to BYOB (beer, wine, and champagne only).

Meet your instructor

Chef Natsumi is a Tokyo-born specialist in Japanese home cooking and a private omakase chef. Her family has run a cooking school in Japan since 1995, and she grew up inside it, leading hands-on classes, assisting, and catering. She also trained intensively under a sushi chef with 30 years of experience. Natsumi loves showing people that good Japanese food doesn't need special equipment or hard-to-find ingredients, just a few solid techniques and a little practice. When she isn't teaching, she's fermenting, making her own miso and koji at home.
