Hand Rolled Sushi

Description

Don’t let the sushi chef have all the fun!

Come and learn how to spread, layer, tuck and roll your way to sushi heaven. In this fun, hands-on social cooking class, you’ll learn all the skills needed to make sushi rolls at home, including how to prepare sushi rice, select sushi-grade fish, and add additional tasty neta (ingredients) to enhance your dining experience. In just two hours, you’ll learn to make and enjoy three types of sushi rolls: a California roll, Spicy Tuna roll, and a seaweed out Vegetable roll. You're welcome to freestyle and prepare your rolls how you like them- with seaweed inside or out, vertical or horizontal. The possibilities are endless!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, wearing your mask. You will be seated with your booking party and socially distanced from other guests. Guests in the same booking party will work together throughout the class by sharing ingredients and equipment. Outside drinks are not allowed and drinks are NOT included in the ticket price. Drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.

Meet your chef instructor
Chef Ashley grew up in a large Italian family, where cooking was the center of their lives. At the age of 15, she was working her very first job in a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles. She graduated with honors from the Art Institute of Austin before moving on to become the sous chef of multiple country clubs. Chef Ashley still travels regularly to hone her craft and learn more about food, culture, and how those two intersect. Her sole goal in life is to teach people not only how to make food, but to remind them that a meal is never just a meal. It's how people come together.

The owners originally used the space as a small outlet to entertain their clients, but the brewery quickly grew into much more. Once again, Ashley was fabulous! I had no idea that sushi could be so easy. She walked us through, step by step, and came to each table to help out. We had a rowdy bunch of 7 and she handled us with ease. Great class, great venue... Looking forward to the next!

Ashely was great! The sushi rice (the hardest part of making sushi) was already expertly prepared but we got to chop the veggies. She gave easy to follow instructions and helped us individually when needed. It was a very relaxed, fun class and we got to eat our creations! 100% recommend taking one of her classes.

Dear Ashley, I wanted to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible experience I had during your recent Sushi class. It was truly a privilege to learn from someone as knowledgeable, skilled, and passionate as you are. From the moment the class began, it was evident that you have a deep understanding of the art of sushi-making. Your ability to explain complex techniques in a clear and concise manner made the learning process both engaging and enjoyable. I appreciated how you took the time to address questions and concerns, ensuring that each participant felt comfortable and confident in their progress. What truly set this class apart was your hands-on approach. The opportunity to work directly with the ingredients and tools, under your expert guidance, was invaluable. Your patience and encouragement allowed us to experiment and refine our skills, resulting in sushi that we could genuinely be proud of. I was particularly impressed by your emphasis on the importance of fresh, high-quality ingredients. Your insights into sourcing and selecting the finest fish, vegetables, and other components showcased your commitment to authenticity and excellence. Beyond the technical aspects, your passion for the art of sushi was contagious. Your stories and anecdotes added a personal touch to the class, making it not just a lesson in technique, but a journey into the culture and history behind this exquisite cuisine. As I reflect on the class, I can't help but feel a newfound sense of confidence in my ability to create sushi dishes that I previously thought were beyond my reach. Your guidance has ignited a passion within me to continue perfecting my skills and exploring the world of sushi. Thank you once again for your dedication, expertise, and genuine enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge. I am excited to continue practicing what I've learned and look forward to enrolling in more of your classes in the future. Warmest regards, Sumeera Sarwar
