Intro to French Pastry

Description

Be transported to Paris for an afternoon of learning the art of French Pastry!

In this memorable, hands-on class, you will learn the art of Pâte à Choux, known as Choux pastry. Choux has the reputation for being difficult, but it’s surprisingly simple! Our Pastry Chef Instructor will take you through a detailed demonstration, before you will be guided step-by-step in replicating how to make the perfect choux dough, piping, and baking to create Eclairs and Cream Puffs (Profiteroles)! You will learn to make an easy vanilla and lemon curd for filling and decorating your desserts. Master these easy recipes and you can make many pastries most bakers are scared to try!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, most of which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early so that class can start on time.

Meet your chef instructor
Chef Ashley grew up in a large Italian family, where cooking was the center of their lives. At the age of 15, she was working her very first job in a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles. She graduated with honors from the Art Institute of Austin before moving on to become the sous chef of multiple country clubs. Chef Ashley still travels regularly to hone her craft and learn more about food, culture, and how those two intersect. Her sole goal in life is to teach people not only how to make food, but to remind them that a meal is never just a meal. It's how people come together.
