Empanadas trace their roots back to the Iberian Peninsula (modern-day Spain and Portugal). The term "empanada" comes from the Spanish verb "empanar," meaning to wrap or coat in bread. These delicious pastries are particularly popular in countries like Peru and Argentina, where they are enjoyed in various forms and flavors. In this class, you'll focus on the Peruvian style of empanadas, known for their unique flavors and ingredients.
In this fun and hands-on class, you’ll learn the art of making empanada dough from scratch, preparing two types of fillings (beef and mushrooms, spinach & cheese), and folding them decoratively into a beautiful presentation. We will then bake the empanadas, making them a healthier option compared to traditional fried varieties! While the empanadas are in the oven, we'll switch gears and make a tasty dipping sauce to enjoy with the finished product. Guests will be involved in making their own empanadas by hand every step of the way!
No experience is required! All equipment and ingredients will be provided. Our events are casual and meant to be fun, relaxing, and instructive—not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as enjoyable for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.
