Wine Tasting 101

Take a break from New York City's bustling bar scene and retreat to a more relaxed, private setting with this unique Wine Tasting 101 experience.

Whether you consider yourself a self-proclaimed wine aficionado, or just have a general love and appreciation for it, you will be sure to leave this class on a good note! Guided by our expert Sommelier, you shall have the opportunity to taste and contrast six different wines. There will be a Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Rose, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and a final red based on what we have on rotation.

From learning how to speak like a Sommelier to discovering the world of wines, you will be enlightened on the differences in history, wine regions, tasting techniques, flavor profiles, grape characteristics, pairings, and everyday practical wine appreciate tips such as how to blind taste! Through this wine tasting journey, it will be our goal to awaken and calibrate your palate as you embark on this life long adventure with wine!

No experience is required! We provide all the wine, equipment, and materials. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, especially if you’re part of a large group. 21+ only.

Maij is a Court of Masters Level II Certified Sommelier with over 8 years of fine-dining experience. He has conducted countless tastings on a variety of beverages over the years that include wine, whiskey, tequila/mezcal, cognac, sake and more. Many of these settings include galas, birthdays, private parties/dinners, wine tours, corporate events, and private seminars. He has many interests outside of wine. As well as being a sommelier, he is also a classically-trained cellist, DJ, tarot reader, and astrologer.
