Meet your chef instructor

Chef Angela is a sushi chef and culinary instructor trained in Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation under renowned sushi master Chef Andy Matsuda. Passionate about sharing the art and traditions of Japanese cooking, she creates fun, hands-on experiences that help students build confidence while learning authentic sushi-making techniques.

Angela's culinary journey began with a deep interest in the connection between food, culture, and health. She is a Nutritionist and Dietitian with a Master's degree in Nutrition Education and spent many years working in public health as a Health Inspector, specializing in food safety and community wellness.

Her studies in traditional food fermentation with internationally recognized experts further expanded her understanding of how fermentation shapes flavor, preservation, and nutrition across cultures. This foundation led her to explore Japanese cuisine, where fermented ingredients and techniques play a central role in many traditional foods.

Today, Chef Angela combines her expertise in Japanese cuisine, nutrition, fermentation, and food safety to create engaging classes that are educational, approachable, and enjoyable for cooks of all skill levels.
