Meet your chef instructor

Born and raised in Orange County, CA, Bryan Lee attributes his love for

cooking to his childhood memories of being in the kitchen with his Japanese

grandmother. To this day, her “katei ryori” (homestyle cooking) influences

appear in many dishes Bryan creates.

Bryan first began sharing his cooking with college friends while studying

Cultural Anthropology at American University, but quickly realized his passion

was in the culinary arts. He returned to his SoCal roots, and enrolled in the

Laguna Culinary Arts program where he honed his skills in the classic French

tradition.

Today, Bryan finds inspiration for his cooking in the seasonal ingredients at local

farmers’ markets, and creates dishes from a variety of cuisines ranging from

French and Italian, to the cuisine of his Japanese and Korean heritage.

Chef Hiro was a joy to have as a teacher. He is very passionate about his craft and shared much knowledge about sushi with us. It was enjoyable and taught my girlfriend and I how to make a handful of sushi rolls. Know we can take it with and make rolls in the future. Materials were provided and place used was clean. Only improvement I would say would be either a microphone or camera with a screen so everyone could see from there spot the lesson and technique. It would save Chef hiro from having to walk around less. It did not take away from the fun class. Would recommend or take another class or his!

Chef Hiro was excellent! Learned the art of making sushi. Fun and informative class. Had a little trouble finding the class inside the building. Maybe a sign to find the class would be helpful. Would recommend to family and friends!

It was an enjoyable experience and would love to take a family group next time. BUT…sushi chef NEEDS to model a little more. We were first timers and had no clue what to do.
