In this complete hands-on class, you’ll learn the art of refining the perfect Indian curry base to make a beautiful Punjabi Pakora Curry with Rice.
The first step to building the curry is a brief knife skills lesson on chopping vegetables. Our expert Chef Instructor will teach you the basics of sourcing and balancing Indian herbs and spices. You will even get to taste test and familiarize yourself with some new and aromatic flavors.
For this particular curry, you will make kadi and pakora from scratch. Kadi is a simmered yogurt sauce that is slow cooked, while pakora are fried fritters. Chef Raina will share her secret to making the perfect rice, before showing you how to build the curry dish from all of its component parts. Then you will sit down to enjoy your meal, which will taste so much better knowing that you created it from scratch, using the most authentic ingredients and techniques. Chef Raina has also taken it upon herself to send guests home with a giveaway of a box of fancy teas to enjoy at home.
No experience is required! All equipment and ingredients will be provided. Our events are casual and meant to be fun, relaxing and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.
Please note that class will be hosted in Chef Raina's home with ample space in the kitchen to social distance booking parties from one another. Chef Raina is also maintaining a sanitized space, for your safety, as per CDC guidelines. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in and get comfortable, wearing your mask. Guests are welcome to BYOB.
