Hand-Rolled Sushi

Description

Don’t let the sushi chef have all the fun!

Come and learn how to spread, layer, tuck and roll your way to sushi heaven. In this fun, hands-on social cooking class, you’ll learn all the skills needed to make sushi-rolls at home, including how to prepare sushi rice, select sushi-grade fish, and add additional tasty neta (ingredients) to enhance your dining experience. You’ll learn to make three different rolls featuring a salmon Uramaki, Rainbow Chu maki (rice on the outside), and a veggie handroll.

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you wish to recreate these at home after the class. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the sushi enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who is happier observing and assisting.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Drinks are available for purchase at the venue.

Where the class will be
Lost Generation Brewing
327 S st. NE, Washington DC 20002
Lost Generation started as a dream whispered between husband and wife late at night, often several beers in. Disillusioned with the local brewing scene here in D.C. during the aughts, we packed up and moved to California to work with the towering giants of the brewing industry, but always with that lingering promise whispered years before, that we would come home and build the brewery we had wished for back then. In here we believe that each pour is an invitation to be one of us. As Gertrude Stein once said, “You are all a Lost Generation.” In here we hold that to be true. We are all one and the same, so let’s raise a glass and have a beer together.

It was a very exciting and fun experience! The instructor was great and accommodating for everyone in the room. Took the time to show how and even brought his board to the table to show the example. Did a great job with preparing everything before we came. He gave all 20 people the attention and help they needed. Also had a ton of jokes. When it comes to Cocusocial I am unsure if I would book through them again. I had to change my ticket. I accidentally ordered the wrong one. Instead of working with me I ended up paying more than the cost and the Groupon deal I had. I had invited 9 people to the event so you would have thought they would have worked something out.

We loved the chef and the explanations and the rolling but it would have been helpful to know that the bar was not RIGHT THERE to order drinks. It was a walk down stairs and across a room. Our attendees were essentially just thirsty until someone went to get drinks for everyone halfway through the class. That was the only complaint.
