Greek Desserts: Baklava & Loukoumades (Donuts)

Description

Baklava is a traditional dessert made of golden layers of filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and drenched in honey syrup. Join Chef Maria in her Manhattan kitchen as she teaches you to make authentic Baklava, as well as Loukoumades- also known as Greek donuts. You can consider them to be the OG donuts, as they date all the way back to the very first Olympic Games. Both recipes carry the texture and flavor of honey in every bite. They are the perfect bite size treats to prepare and share with loved ones.

Invite your friends and family to join you for class so you can connect virtually and enjoy a fun afternoon of creating something sweet together from scratch. The best part will be no doubt be the taste testing at the end!

No experience is required! We'll be working with ready-made filo pastry to make the baklava, which you can pick up at your local grocery store. You'll have the opportunity to interact with Chef Maria and ask her questions throughout the class.

You will receive an email with the equipment and ingredients list. However, the main ingredients required to bake along with the chef in your own kitchen include: chopped almonds, chopped walnuts, breadcrumbs, sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, unsalted butter, filo pastry, honey, dried yeast (1 packet), all purpose flour, sea salt, and olive oil.

Measure out and prepare your ingredients ahead of the session and great ready for some baking & frying!

Tickets are on a per-person basis. Please note our class times are in Eastern Time Zone!

I really enjoyed this virtual experience with Maria. I love Baklava and was very excited to learn how to make it at home. The class was easy to follow along with and I learned a lot about Baklava in the process. Both desserts were delicious, I will definitely use both recipes again. Glad I took the class.
