Chinese Dumplings

In this complete hands-on class, you’ll learn how to create delicious Vegetarian Chinese Dumplings. Our expert Chef Instructor will guide you step-by-step through refining your knife skills, making two different dumpling fillings, and learning the art of folding wonton wrappers into various traditional shapes.

You will be given the choice to concoct your own filling recipes from a display of seasonal ingredients or you can follow your chef's recipes for tofu and mushroom based fillings. After folding and pan searing your veggie dumplings you will learn to make a chili garlic dipping sauce from scratch. Then sit down and enjoy your meal, which will taste so much better knowing that you created it by hand using the most authentic ingredients and techniques. Chef Raina has also taken it upon herself to send guests home with a giveaway of a box of fancy teas to enjoy at home.

No experience is required! All equipment and ingredients will be provided. Our events are casual and meant to be fun, relaxing and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.

Please note that class will be hosted in Chef Raina's home with ample space in the kitchen to social distance booking parties from one another. Chef Raina is also maintaining a sanitized space, for your safety, as per CDC guidelines. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in and get comfortable, wearing your mask. Guests are welcome to BYOB.

Chef Raina has over 5 years of professional culinary experience as a Personal Chef. She is known for her Global Fusion food. Her quest for flavor has led her to creating a bunch of new recipes that she is excited to share with you.
Where the class will be
Guest requirement
Guests are invited to BYOB wine, beer, or champagne. At this time, all guests are required to wear masks during class regardless of vaccination status. Your chef instructor will wear a mask throughout the entire class as well. Guests will be allowed to remove their masks when eating and drinking. As a result, booking parties will be socially distanced from one another while eating. The nature of our classes are set up so that booking parties will work together during class, sharing both ingredients and equipment. Chef Raina's apartment is conveniently located a few blocks away from the 7 Train (Flushing, Main St). Please note that the building has no elevator and is not wheelchair accessible. Chef Raina also has a dog at home, however the dog will be kept in a separate room throughout the entire class. There is free street parking opposite from her building and a few blocks away. There are also plenty of paid parking lots nearby - such as Tangram & Sky View Mall. Upon arrival please look for a brick building with an archway - on the entrance you'll see a sign "37-33" (image included in class description). You may walk towards the B building (center building) & buzz apt B3D.
Cancellation policy
Reschedule request have to be made at least 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. Cancellations are not permitted and tickets are non-refundable.See terms and policy.

Really fun class. Such friendly, knowledgeable and great hosts. I would recommend to anyone for a fun experience. I personally feel it would be more beneficial to teach the students how to make the dumpling wrappers from scratch. The hosts addressed this and explained why this is not done anymore, but for me I see it as an important part of dumpling making and should be included in the class.

I can’t recommend anything to the chef to improve this class. The chef, Raini, and her husband, Gotan, were extremely well prepared for the class. They explained step-by-step what we had to do and clearly demonstrated techniques for using a knife properly, which ingredients to use and chop, and how to cook the dumplings properly. It was a great experience. Perhaps, most importantly, we left feeling we could do this at home.
