Dying to escape the summer heat to somewhere remote and beautiful? Why not join our Caribbean Feast and feel yourself transported to one of the islands in the Caribbean? To kick off our party properly, we start by mixing a Ginger Rum Punch and toasting for a delightful meal ahead!
In this fun and highly interactive class, you will be guided step-by-step in recreating a whole meal consisting of Jerk Chicken, Coconut Rice, Mango Salsa, and Tostones. You will learn basic knife skills, how to make an authentic jerk spice mix and how to perfectly pan-sear the chicken on a pan! You will also make fragrant coconut rice, refreshing mango salsa, and perfectly crispy tostones - also known as twice fried green plantains - to accompany your meal. Once you have created your masterpiece, you will then plate, garnish and devour your creations with your fellow foodies joining you for this delicious virtual cooking party! You will gain insight on how to source fresh, seasonal ingredients and specialty spices in order to recreate the perfect Caribbean Feast at home.
No experience is required! We will send you the equipment and ingredients list, which are easy to find and you may already have them in your home kitchen. Just make sure you have most of these essential ingredients: Ginger Beer, Dark Rum, Tropical juice/nectar of choice, mango, avocado, lime, red onion, red bell pepper, cilantro, onion powder, dried thyme, dried parsley, allspice, cinnamon, black pepper, cayenne, paprika, red pepper flakes, ground cumin, granulated garlic, salt, nutmeg, brown sugar, chicken thighs (bone in or out, your choice - you will need more cooking time for bone in), vegetable oil, jasmine rice, a can of unsweetened coconut milk, frying oil, green plantain. You will have an opportunity to interact with the Chef and ask questions throughout the session.
