Hand-rolled Sushi

Description

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and learn how to create your own fresh sushi rolls like a pro? You are in for a special treat! We will kick off the class with delicious plum wine spritzer to set the mood, then get rolling!

In this highly interactive and hands-on class, Chef Scott will let you in on tips and tricks of making delicious sushi rolls, from preparing the perfect sushi rice, cutting the fresh ingredients properly, and the art of rolling. On the menu is tuna roll with spicy mayo sauce, veggie roll with avocado and cucumber, and "Banh Mi" roll with fresh pickled vegetables and cilantro for a fun twist. You are invited to let your creativity flow and try rolling with seaweed both inside and out and mix and match different ingredients to develop your own unique edition.

No experience is required! We will send you the equipment and ingredients list, which are easy to find and you may already have them in your home kitchen. If you don't have all ingredients, do not despair! Some ingredients can be easily substituted and our Chef will teach you how to make the most of what you already have on hand. Just make sure you have these essential ingredients: short or medium grained rice (sushi rice works best), seaweed nori sheets, rice vinegar, canned tuna, avocado, cucumber, bell pepper, carrot, and any other vegetables of your choice. If you are able to source fresh, sushi-grade fish such as salmon or tuna, fantastic! The Chef will be able to guide you on how to cut the fish properly if you will be using fresh fish, but it is not required and the Chef will be using canned tuna for the demonstration. Soy sauce, sriracha, and mayonnaise will be the base for the sauces you will make. We will need plum wine to mix a delicious plum wine spritzer! You will have an opportunity to interact with the Chef and ask questions throughout the session.

Prepare your mis-en-place and cook your rice ahead of the session, grab your drinking glasses, and get ready to join a fun virtual cooking party! Ticket is on a per-person basis. Please note our class time is in the Eastern Time Zone!

Chef Scott was amazing!! He always provides a great cultural background and makes the class fun. We had 50 employees attend and we received great feedback from the entire team. Excellent team billing exercise.

Scott was awesome!!! My fiance was hesitant to take this class but he actually commented after that he was really glad we did. We are sushi lovers and now we can enjoy it at home. Scott was very articulate, clear in his directions and demonstrations, and we found him entertaining. He answered any questions we posed and he was very comfortable with what he was doing. I would definitely recommend Scott as an instructor. He mentioned a date night coming up that we wanted to take but we were having company over that evening. My only suggestions would be to add that the rice should be cooked the same evening for the best performance of it, and you might want to list to have plastic wrap so you can wrap your bamboo. Luckily I had some but I didn't know we were going to use it so I may have been out. Scott even showed us a fancier inside out roll that we loved doing. Thanks again for such an enjoyable experience that gave us a lot of practical information we will use!

Scott was a great teacher and chef! He made the experience personal for each person that took the class. It was a fast pace but he always took time to make sure that everyone was caught up and okay. I will most definitely be taking more classes with him!

Really enjoyed the experience. We will sign up again. Chef Scott mentioned several times he would show us inside out rolls but did not. It seemed we ended a bit early?
