Spanish Paella

Description

Now this is a culinary experience worth taking a trip for! You are cordially invited to Chef Afiya's tree surrounded home in Upper Marlboro for a fun filled evening of classic Spanish weekend dinner. Do plan ahead and mark your calendar because this hands-on cooking class featuring magnificent Spanish Paella studded with chorizo, shrimp, chicken, and vibrant aromatic vegetables is a thing of a beauty to behold. Action packed and highly interactive, this class is also perfect for an intimate team-building or friends gathering as it will require you and your cooking companion to work as a unit under an attentive guidance of the Chef Instructor. Teamwork makes the dream work, indeed!

You will learn step by step how to create "sofrito", the base made with vegetables that brings the "oomph" of flavors to this rice based dish. Then, you will start to build your dish by adding rice and the proteins. Bring your favorite wine or beer to cheer and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Buen Provecho!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets in case you wish to recreate the dish on your own after the class. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. For those who are fully vaccinated, mask is optional. Mask is still required for those who are not fully vaccinated.

We had a great experience it was very fun she was informative about the seasonings and herbs. The cooking and dining area was very clean. She was very down to earth and professional. Our meal came out great and tasted very good. She taught us how to "bloom and shimmy". I would definitely take a class from her again
