French Macaron

Description

Be transported to a French Patisserie and learn the art of making classic French Macarons.

In this fun and hands-on class, you’ll learn tips and techniques for making delectable macarons, easy enough to be done in your home kitchen. Together we'll demystify the making of these highly sought-after meringue-based sandwich cookies. You’ll be guided step-by-step through the meringue mixing (macaronage), piping, baking, assembling and of course, the eating! Plus we’ll explore a few yummy flavor and filling variations (raspberry & chocolate). Oh la la!

Macarons are delicate confections made with almond flour; perfect for those who prefer gluten-free or dairy-free treats!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the baking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive on time, wearing your mask. Please note that class will be hosted in Chef John's home with ample space to social distance booking parties from one another. Chef John is also maintaining a sanitized space, for your safety, as per CDC guidelines. Guests are invited to BYOB (beer, wine, or champagne).

Meet your chef instructor
Chef John joins us in Seattle after having just moved from North Carolina. He has worked in every aspect of a restaurant while in Los Angeles, San Franciso, and Atlanta. He was even Whitney Houston's personal chef! He is thrilled to be working in Seattle and can't wait to share his craft with new students.
Where the class will be
Guest requirement
Chef John lives on a steep hillside. Look out for signs to help you navigate yourself to the entrance, which will be through the side gate and a short walk around to the side door. Everything will be marked so that it's easy for you to find. Guests are invited to BYOB wine, champagne or beer. At this time, all guests are required to wear masks during class regardless of vaccination status. Your chef instructor will wear a mask throughout the entire class as well. Guests will be allowed to remove their masks when eating and drinking. As a result, booking parties will be socially distanced from one another while eating. The nature of our classes are set up so that booking parties will work together during class, sharing both ingredients and equipment.
Cancellation policy
Reschedule request have to be made at least 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. Cancellations are not permitted and tickets are non-refundable.See terms and policy.

Loved this class and especially the chef teaching it! Chef John was knowledgeable and clearly passionate. He answered all baking questions not just about macarons. As a hobby baker I really appreciated this class and chef John.
