Classic Croissants and Pain Au Chocolat

Description

Croissants are one of the most flaky and buttery of French pastries. In this 2.5-hour class, you will learn to mix and knead the croissant dough, laminate with the butter layer, and to shape and bake the classic croissant. We will use the same dough to also make delicious pain au chocolat. While the dough rests and chills in the fridge, we will also make easy Strawberry jam to later smear on your Croissants.

No experience is required! We will send you the equipment and ingredients list, which are easy to find and you may already have them in your home kitchen. Some essential ingredients for this class include: AP flour, butter, milk, eggs, sugar, milk, salt, yeast, almond flour, semi-sweet chocolate, and strawberries (if making the jam). You will have an opportunity to interact with the Chef and ask questions. Ticket is on a per-person basis.

Meet your chef instructor
Former Modern Dancer and 'survivor of the 1960s' Fran retired from her job as a portfolio manager in 2011 to attend the Paris Le Cordon Bleu school. She completed her diploma in Cuisine in 2014 and has taught French and Spanish cooking to adults both in Australia and the United States.

We will be sending you a list of ingredients and equipment you would need for this class. Please make sure you have your ingredients and equipment prepped and ready so that you can cook along with our Chef in real time! Some ingredients may require you to prepare before the session begins. A Zoom link will also be shared with you upon registration.
Cancellation policy
Reschedule request have to be made at least 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. Cancellations are not permitted and tickets are non-refundable.See terms and policy.

This class was so much fun to take! Frances was so knowledgeable, caring and friendly. She took the time to learn each participants names, and made sure to check and see how all the dough's were coming along; If anyone was running behind she'd make sure to either slow down or check in to see how that person was doing. When someone was struggling she took the time look at their dough to see where they may have made a mistake, and knew exactly how to correct it. Throughout the class she happily answered any questions too. I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in baking and looking to learn a new technique and eat delicious pastries!

We had a wonderful time in this class. Frances took a difficult subject and broke it down into easy, manageable parts. She did a great job checking in with everyone to make sure no one fell behind or messed up. She was very patient and gave a lot of great information. We definitely learned a lot and feel that we got more than our moneys worth! We would love to take another one of her classes!
