Chicken Shawarma

Description

Learn how to replicate your favorite street food: chicken shawarma! Once you learn how to make this tasty Middle Eastern staple dish with fresh ingredients at home, it will be very hard to go back to the food truck kind!

In this fun and highly hands-on class, you will learn with our expert Chef Instructor of Lebanese/Jordanian background how to chop and prepare the ingredients using the right knife skills, make fresh Arabic salad, make chef's secret garlic sauce, and learn how to use a perfect blend of spices to season your meat. At the end of the class, enjoy a wonderful spread of chicken shawarma, Arabic salad and fresh pita bread with your new foodie friends. You’ll find out about where to source traditional Middle Eastern ingredients in the LA area.

No experience necessary! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing). This class is BYOB!

Meet your chef instructor
Chef Jackie is passionate about cooking Middle Eastern dishes and teaching people how to recreate them from their own home. She has a 30+ years cooking experience, opened a food truck business in LA, catering private events, corporate accounts, and hosts social dining. Of Lebanese background, Jackie was born and raised in Jordan where food has important cultural and symbolic meanings that go beyond what's on our plates. She travels to Lebanon, Syria, Greece, Egypt, Dubai, Qatar and other Mediterranean destinations occasionally. This dizzying list of hometowns and traveling served as an excellent educational tool in forming her Middle Eastern cuisine. She loves to see how her food brings joy to people’s faces and enjoys interacting with guests from all over the world. Take a flight to the Middle East and experience the warmth and generosity of the Jordanian culture without leaving LA.
