Korean Fried Chicken

Description

Learn how to make crispy Korean fried chicken from scratch!

Join Chef Nikila for a fun, hands-on cooking experience exploring the techniques behind Korea's beloved double-fried chicken. You'll learn what makes Korean fried chicken so uniquely crispy, from preparing a light, crunchy starch coating to mastering the double-frying technique that creates a golden, paper-thin crust while keeping the chicken juicy inside. Along the way, Chef Nikila will share insights into the flavors and traditions behind this popular Korean comfort food.

What You'll Make:

You'll prepare crispy Korean fried chicken tossed in a flavorful, spicy gochujang glaze, served alongside traditional Korean pickled daikon radish (chicken-mu). You'll make your own coating using a combination of potato starch, cornstarch, and ice-cold carbonated water, then get hands-on experience dredging and frying the chicken using the signature double-fry method. You'll also learn how to prepare sweet and tangy pickled daikon, the perfect refreshing complement to the rich, crispy chicken.

As an engineering graduate who transitioned into recruitment, Chef Nikila spent years analyzing talent before deciding to follow my true calling: food. Driven by a lifelong passion for cooking, she stepped away from the corporate world to immerse myself in the culinary arts. Her journey took her deep into the heart of Singapore, where she had the unique privilege of learning authentic Singaporean cuisine directly from local home cooks and street food masters. Today, she combines her analytical background with firsthand cultural training to share the vibrant, rich flavors of Southeast Asian cooking with the world.
