Gumbo is perhaps the most infamous dish stemming from Louisiana-style cooking. It encompasses a melting pot of cultures from West African to French all mixed together and served in a steaming bowl. It's a dish served to the masses, either peasant style or even in high end restaurants. Gumbo is versatile depending on the ingredients you have access to but always comforting, nevertheless.
In this class you will execute a classic Chicken & Sausage Gumbo served over Rice. Learn the basics to making a Roux, which is flour browned in butter used to thicken the Gumbo. The remaining process is all about carefully cooking and incorporating the individual ingredients.
No matter where in the country you call home, anyone can enjoy a NOLA style meal and make it their own. You will receive an email with the equipment and ingredients list. However, the main ingredients required to participate along with the chef include: oil for frying, chicken, andouille sausage, rice, butter, flour, onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, celery, heavy cream, paprika, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Prepare your mis-en-place ahead of the session, grab your favorite drink, and let’s get cooking together!
