Don’t let the sushi chef have all the fun!

Come and learn how to spread, layer, tuck and roll your way to sushi heaven. In this fun, hands-on, social cooking class you’ll practice all the skills needed to make sushi rolls at home. You'll start by learning how to prepare and season sushi rice, select sushi-grade fish, and add additional tasty vegetables and other ingredients to enhance the deliciousness of your sushi. During class you will make 4 traditional rolls: cream cheese cucumber roll, spicy salmon roll, avocado cucumber roll, and a California roll. Your Chef Instructor may even throw in a few surprise ingredients, grown on site, to customize your sushi creations and get your creativity flowing.

No experience is required! All equipment and ingredients will be provided. Our events are casual and meant to be fun, relaxing and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.

Please note that class will be hosted in Chef Matt's home with ample space in the kitchen to social distance booking parties from one another. You will also have a chance to visit and tour around the growing biodynamic farm! Chef Matt is maintaining a sanitized space, for your safety, as per CDC guidelines. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in and get comfortable, wearing your mask. You are invited to BYOB beer, wine, or champagne with you to class. One bottle per pair, please.

Meet your chef instructor
Chef Matt has 25 years of broad-based restaurant experience in both NYC and Miami. He has served at many heralded restaurants, including Oceana, Norman’s, Union Pacific, Artisanal, Picholine, BoBo and Ca Va Brasserie. Constantly expanding and growing his talents, he has worked to develop extensive cheese knowledge, production of various dry sausage and charcuterie and an acute wine palate as the Executive Chef of New York’s Punch & Wined Up. Chef Matt is venerated as a NYC culinary veteran, receiving such honors as two stars in Crain’s New York Business Magazine, has assisted in several favorable reviews in the New York Times and attained the pinnacle of his star-seeking career as a ** Michelin Sous Chef.

Seeking new challenges, Chef Matt turned his attention to new horizons in the airport environment to work for international restaurateur, HMS Host. Most recently he oversaw the American Airlines in-terminal culinary department spanning 26 national airports, with a heavy focus on New York, Chicago, LA, Miami as well as his beloved home; Dallas.

Where the class will be
Guest requirement
Guests are invited to BYOB wine, champagne or beer. One bottle only per pair please! GAt this time, all guests are required to wear masks during class regardless of vaccination status. Your chef instructor will wear a mask throughout the entire class as well. Guests will be allowed to remove their masks when eating and drinking. As a result, booking parties will be socially distanced from one another while eating. The nature of our classes are set up so that booking parties will work together during class, sharing both ingredients and equipment. For driving directions to Chef Matt's home, your GPS or Waze app may come up with the same address under Gray's Prairie, which is also correct. Guests may enter class by ringing the front door.
Cancellation policy
Reschedule request have to be made at least 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. Cancellations are not permitted and tickets are non-refundable.See terms and policy.

What an amazing evening! We felt totally comfortable, safe, and welcome in Matt’s beautiful home. It was truly one of the most special experiences that his family opened their home to us. Everything was prepared and laid out so nicely, all the ingredients were totally fresh and high quality, we learned SO much! The value was incredible. But mostly- Matt. What an amazing human being. He is so kind, compassionate, generous, and truly a one of a kind person. He’s an inspiration and simply a wealth of knowledge. He shares his gifts and talents with everyone he comes across. He’s really a bright light in this world and you can feel the warm vibes and atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. I 100% recommend this class with Matt!!

I was so very excited for this class, despite the bad weather, Chef Matt still conducted the class and boy did I get a surprise! First of all, it was very cool that the class was in his home... and he lived on 11 acres and had a little farm.. pigs, piglets, ducks, chickens, dogs... I was in heaven, because the only thing better than cooking that I love are animals! They captured my heart immediately. We not only got to feed the animals (with the exception of the dogs); we went home with fresh duck and chicken eggs. I was also pleased that we got to take home sushi because I was stuffed after the 2nd roll that we made. My husband LOVED the sushi that I took home. It was fun, casual and the other couple that I took the class with were delightful Newlyweds! This class was well worth the wait. Thank you!

Matt, our chef, did a great job teaching the class. He has a wealth of information, is very accommodating, and truly enjoys teaching. The entire group had tons of fun in a very private and intimate setting. I highly recommend this class.

Better than any cooking class I could ever dream of. Not only did I and my husband feel so welcome, but we had so much encouragement approaching every roll.
