Hand-Rolled Sushi

Description

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and learn how to create your own fresh sushi rolls like a pro? You are in for a special treat!

Come and learn how to spread, layer, tuck and roll your way to sushi heaven. In this fun, hands-on social cooking class, you’ll learn all the skills needed to make sushi-rolls at home, including how to cook the rice to perfection, using traditional fanning method to cool it down, then creating vinegar "syrup" from scratch and folding in to make sushi rice, select sushi-grade fish, and add additional tasty neta (ingredients) to enhance your dining experience. You’ll learn to make two different rolls featuring spicy (or not if you prefer non-spicy) tuna made with fresh, sushi-grade tuna and vegetable hand-roll using ingredients such as avocado, carrot, and cucumber. There will be lesson on valuable knife skills when you cut the fillings. Once sushi is finished, you will enjoy the fruits of your labor along with pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce.

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Find out about our favorite resources in San Francisco for sourcing ingredients and basic equipment for dumpling making at home. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.

Please arrive on time, wearing your mask. Guests are invited to bring their own wine, beer, or champagne.

Meet your chef instructor
Chef Annria's love of cuisines of the world stems from growing up in South Africa, a melting pot of diverse cultures. After she moved to the U.S., she continued her love of world cuisines - both in cooking and teaching. Chef Annria was trained in the classic French style, however her interests are far and wide. There is not a cuisine she has come across that she did not like - well...perhaps offal, her grandfather's specialty!
