Vietnamese pho is always a good idea, regardless of the season. This hearty rice noodle soup dish usually takes hours in order to create the rich broth that requires an extended steeping in the pot with exotic spices. In this class, taught step-by-step by our resident Vietnamese Chef Instructor, Huong, we will recreate the authentic flavors at home without sacrificing lots of time. Using chicken broth as the base, we will learn to build the authentic Vietnamese flavors using star anise, cinnamon sticks, and coriander seeds. We will then prepare the rice noodles in a proper way so that they are perfectly cooked and top it off with falling-off-the-bone tender and juicy chicken along with other garnishes. Can this all be done in 1.5 hours, you ask? You bet, pho real!
Invite your friends and family to join you so you can connect virtually and enjoy a fun afternoon of cooking. No experience is required!
You will receive an email with the equipment and ingredients list, which consist mainly of staple pantry items and those that are frequently stocked at your local store or farmer's market. Most ingredients can also be easily substituted with what you have on hand. Just make sure you have these essential ingredients: good quality chicken broth (either home-made or store bought), dry rice noodles, chicken, cinnamon sticks, star anise, coriander seeds, cilantro, bean sprouts.
You will have an opportunity to interact with Chef Duane throughout the class and ask questions at the end.
