A Taste of Thailand: Pad See Ew & Papaya Salad

Description

Due to limited seating, this class can only accept bookings of 2 or more. If you are booking your class as a group please make the reservation under one name, as a full booking group.

Escape to the streets of Thailand as we create two heartwarming and flavor-packed classics, Pad See Ew and the traditional Papaya Salad (Som-Tum). Hosted by our resident Thai Chef Instructor, you will have the unique opportunity to learn the cultural history of Thai cuisine and traditional techniques from the most authentic source!

In this fun and hands-on class, you will be guided step-by-step in recreating these classic dishes, beginning with the popular flat rice noodle dish, Pad See Ew. Served with chicken or tofu and a Chinese broccoli, you'll love learning how to recreate this popular takeaway dish on your own without compromising on traditional flavors. Learn how to season and properly cook your noodles, which we've learned is a skill all on its own.  You will then make the famous Papaya salad to enjoy as a palate cleanser.  You will learn the ‘Tum (smack)’ techniques on the traditional mortar and the hybrid 'smack in the bag' alternative.  Who says cooking can't be fun?!  Once you have created your masterpieces, you will then plate, garnish and enjoy tasting your creations with your new found foodie friends!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, especially if you’re part of a large group.  Drinks are available for purchase from the venue and are NOT included in the ticket price.

Chef Saruj was so incredibly welcoming. My partner and I are spending the rest of our night talking about how much we enjoyed the class. I’m keeping an eye on the Pad Thai class he teaches so we can come back. If I could give this class a million stars I would.

Chef Saruj did an amazing job! He was informative, helpful, patient, and was genuinely interested in us having a great experience and actually learning something. He provided tips for how to prepare the dish at home, which was very much appreciated. I took two high school students and was not certain how much they would enjoy it, but they both loved it and want to do another class with Chef Saruj the next time we are in NYC. I cannot recommend this class enough.
