Learn the foundations of this beloved Latin American staple as you mix, shape, and cook arepas to golden perfection. Along the way, Chef Alvaro will guide you through traditional techniques, including insights passed down from his Venezuelan assistant, Alejandro, who taught him the art of arepa-making.
What You’ll Make:
Each guest will prepare arepa dough from scratch and create two delicious versions. First, the classic Reina Pepiada, filled with a flavorful chicken and avocado mixture. Then, a hearty vegetarian arepa stuffed with black beans, feta cheese, and sweet maduros. To tie it all together, you’ll also make a bright garlic lime sauce that adds the perfect finishing touch to every bite.
Along the way, enjoy insights into the history and versatility of arepas as a staple street food and everyday comfort dish across Latin America. Once your arepas are cooked to perfection, you can enjoy them onsite or take them to go.

We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).
