Enjoy a truly unique hands-on foodie experience immersed in traditional Puerto Rican hospitality. Hosted by our resident Chef Instructor with a proud Puerto Rican heritage, you will gain a deeper understanding of the history of Puerto Rican culture and cuisine and guaranteed to leave with a full belly!

In this fun and interactive class, you will be guided step-by-step in preparing some well renowned recipes that capture the true essence of Puerto Rico's gastronomic heritage. Once having gained a brief insight into Puerto Rican history and way of living, you will be taught some valuable knife skills. You will then use these skills in learning how to recreate two of the most classic Puerto Rican dishes, pork Mofongo and Beef Empanadas. Both of these dishes can be adapted to Vegetarian friendly versions. We will then finish the class on a sweeter note by dishing up some dessert Empanadas using guava paste! Once you have dished up your Puerto Rican spread, sit down with you new-found foodie friends and celebrate your hard work eating family style!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the baking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.

You will be seated with your booking party and will work together throughout the class by sharing ingredients and equipment. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. To ensure the safety and enriching experience of all participants, we require children aged 14 to 17 be accompanied by a parent or guardian during our cooking classes. Classes are intended for adults 18+. Drinks are NOT included in the ticket price. Guests who are 21 and over are invited to BYOB (beer, wine, and champagne only).

Meet your chef instructor
Chef Jerry has been cooking professionally for over fifteen years. He has worked in many restaurants and amassed a plethora of knowledge in different types of cuisines. His primary specialty has been in Spanish and Italian cooking. However for the past six years, his focus has been on creating healthy and dietary tolerant cooking including Keto, low carb and vegetarian cooking. Chef Jerry was also inspired to begin his own personal journey to a healthier lifestyle, in which to date he has lost over eighty pounds! He now wishes to share his experiences and inspire others to follow a healthy lifestyle as he himself has been inspired to make better life choices and enjoys cooking new dishes!

Cancellation policy
Reschedule request have to be made at least 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. Cancellations are not permitted and tickets are non-refundable.See terms and policy.

Jerry was a very knowledgeable chef. He was also very personable, funny, and had some entertaining stories to share with us. He played some latin classic hits and made us feel as though we we’re family and right at home in his kitchen. I felt seen and not lonely although I was there alone. The dishes came out pretty delicious especially with his magical Mofongo sauce. I now feel more comfortable making my own Mofongo and empanadas at home too! I would definitely go to another one of Jerry’s classes. 10/10 chef’s kiss!

We had a great time taking the Puerto Rican Classics cooking class. Jerry was very personable and funny. He went above and beyond for some of us in our group that had dietary restrictions. I'm happy to add these dishes to my cooking rotatio and I would highly recommend Jerry's class. I look forward to taking his other cooking classes sometime in the near future.
