Arepas are popular in Columbian and especially Venezuelan cuisine. They are corn patties that resemble English Muffins. These doughy delights are perfect for stuffing with meats and vegetables, eating on their own, or dipping into something scrumptious.
In this fun and interactive class, you will be guided step-by-step in preparing your very own arepas with your choice of chicken and/or black beans and cheese fillings. Once having gained a brief insight into Venezuelan cuisine and Arepa history, you will be taught some valuable knife skills.
Before sitting down to enjoy your meal, you will also learn how to make Chef Jerry's favorite Chimichurri sauce. Drizzle on the good stuff and assemble your arepas before indulging in this famous South American delight! There will be enough ingredients for each guest to make 6 mini or 3 standard sized arepas.
No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the baking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.
You will be seated with your booking party and socially distanced from other guests. Guests in the same booking party will work together throughout the class by sharing ingredients and equipment. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. To ensure the safety and enriching experience of all participants, we require children aged 14 to 17 be accompanied by a parent or guardian during our cooking classes. Classes are intended for adults 18+. Drinks are NOT included in the ticket price. Guests who are 21 and over are invited to BYOB (beer, wine, and champagne only).
