Meet your chef instructor

Devin has been a sushi chef for 16 years, with most of her training based in Seattle and the rest developed in Portland, Oregon, where she now lives. She’s worked in a number of well-known kitchens across Portland and brings a deep, hands-on knowledge of sushi to each lesson. Through teaching private classes, she’s found a real love for connecting with people through food and sharing what she’s learned along the way.

I think the class was fantastic. The instructor was very knowledgeable. I do feel, however, that the balls of rice should be passed out individually wrapped in cellophane and not have everyone dig their hands into a cooler full of rice. I also think the ingredients especially the seafood should be sitting at each place setting with a little bit of ice underneath the bowl. I also think every paying person should have their own stuff to prepare the sushi and not have to share with anyone, as I noticed a few people came by themselves and had to share with somebody that they did not know

The teacher was great! The venue worked, but finding a place with standing desks or counters would be ideal for cooking. Devin was lively and helpful, she broke down sushi rolling excellently! I've never had such nice looking rolls before!
