A Taste of Thailand

Description

Escape to the streets of Thailand as we create two heartwarming classics, Tom Yum Soup and Khai Jiao (Thai-Style Omelet). Hosted by our resident Thai Chef Instructor who originates from Isaan Province, you will have the unique opportunity to learn the cultural history of Thai cuisine and traditional techniques from the most authentic source!

In this fun and hands-on class, you will be guided step-by-step in recreating these classic dishes, beginning with the deliciously simple Thai Omelet. Browned and crispy, Khai Jiao is quite different from a French omelet given the punch of umami from its essential ingredient fish sauce, and the generous addition of green onions and herbs. You will then make the famous Tom Yum Soup, renowned for is hot and sour flavour combination. You will learn how to master the classic Soup broth made with intoxicating flavours of lemongrass, garlic, lime and chilli, combined with a chicken stock base and topped up with shrimp. Once you have created your masterpieces, you will then plate, garnish and devour your creations with your new found foodie friends!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, especially if you’re part of a large group.

Space was a bit awkward. Tables were difficult to cook at and it was kind of noisy with music and background noise. Also, drinks were VERY expensive with two glasses of wine costing $32. Otherwise it was fun, entertaining and instructional.

We loved our class and our teacher! The meal was totally doable to make in the future and the food was delicious. Our teacher ran the class very smoothly -- everything was well prepared and well timed. A really enjoyable evening!
