Description

Please note that Chef Erik can only accept bookings of 2 for his private classes.

If you're looking for a fun (and safe) idea for a date night, look no further than this hands-on private class in Chef Instructor, Erik's, Harlem home. This class is part wine tasting, part cooking, and beautiful plating making it the ideal hands-on Food & Wine Pairing experience.

In this fun and interactive hands-on class, you will learn to make a variety of tapas style dishes, perfect for entertaining guests or hosting your own wine night.

You will learn to make several dishes and each will be paired with it's corresponding wine. Here's an example menu of what you might enjoy during your experience: Garden Fresh Seafood Cocktail & Pinot Grigio, Steak & Blue Cheese Bruschetta with Onion and Roasted Tomato Jam & Riesling, Smoked Pimiento Cheese Crostini & Prosecco, Roasted Vegetable and Chevre Quiche & Merlot, BBQ Chicken Bites & Cabernet Sauvignon.

Not only will you cook along with the chef, but you'll receive a guided tasting for each recipe. Chef Erik will explain how to pair dishes with your favorite wines. You may even end up leaving with a new favorite label!

No experience is required! All equipment, ingredients, and wine will be provided by your Chef Instructor. Our events are casual and meant to be fun, relaxing and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.

Please arrive on time, wearing your mask.

Meet your chef instructor
Born and raised in New York City, Chef Erik was exposed from an early age to cooking with his father, the Executive Chef of the legendary Harlem eatery, Sylvia’s, in the late 1970s. With no formal culinary training, he landed his first kitchen position at the historical French Bakery, Pane Doro, making an assortment of bread and pastries.

Several years later, Chef Elijah served as the supervising chef of Great Performances, which under his lead was named Zagat’s best catering company in New York-serving such renowned clients as President Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Plaza Hotel, Facebook, Goldman and Sachs, and HBO.

Currently, Chef Elijah has aligned himself with top clients in both Atlanta and NYC including: Marcus Samuelsson (Red Rooster, Harlem), Gladys Knight, Wolfgang Puck, Iron Chef Duane Nutter, and Delta Airlines.

This was not your typical cooking class by any means, by which I mean preparing a recipe by the numbers. Rather, Erik gives you a real look at and insight into what it really means to be a chef. We found that to be much more valauble and something that will truly enhance our cooking and our appreciation of good food and fine dining. Plus the food we did make, based on simple and healthy ingredients, was superb. As were the wine pairings. Not to mention the ambience, the music and the conversation.

I booked this experience as a surprise date for my partner and I. We absolutely loved it! Chef Erik was very welcoming and was a great host. His home was the perfect spot for the class- great music, great vibes and great art. Chef did a great job at including us into the prepping and cooking process, as well as allowing us to sit back, relax and enjoy our time. There was plenty of food and wine provided for us and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS! 5 out of 5 stars for this experience... I would 100% recommend this class and Chef for the perfect date night.

Chef Eric was the perfect host. He was welcoming, knowledgable, friendly and an absolutely stellar chef. The food we had and the atmosphere he provided was one of the best culinary experiences of our lives. We were welcomed by a customized chalk board , and followed the sound music to his culinary dojo. He outdid himself and made us feel like we were hanging out with an old friend. Thanks so much, Chef E for your brilliant food (really) and gracious company. Can’t recommend you enough :)
