Fresh Falefel and Hummus

Description

What could be better than fresh falafel out of the griddle accompanied with smooth and velvety home-made hummus? These green and crispy protein packed balls are always a huge hit among foodies whether they are vegans or omnivores. Once you learn how to make these tasty Middle Eastern staples, it will be very hard to go back to store bought kinds!

In this fun and highly hands-on class, you will learn with our expert Chef Instructor of Lebanese/Jordanian background how to chop and prepare the ingredients using the right knife skills, make tahini sauce from scratch, form and cook the falafel balls, and make hummus from scratch. At the end of the class, enjoy a healthy and energizing spread of falafel, hummus, simple salad and fresh pita bread with your new foodie friends. You’ll find out about where to source traditional Middle Eastern ingredients in the LA area.

No experience necessary! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing). This class is BYOB!

Meet your chef instructor
Chef Jackie is passionate about cooking Middle Eastern dishes and teaching people how to recreate them from their own home. She has a 30+ years cooking experience, opened a food truck business in LA, catering private events, corporate accounts, and hosts social dining. Of Lebanese background, Jackie was born and raised in Jordan where food has important cultural and symbolic meanings that go beyond what's on our plates. She travels to Lebanon, Syria, Greece, Egypt, Dubai, Qatar and other Mediterranean destinations occasionally. This dizzying list of hometowns and traveling served as an excellent educational tool in forming her Middle Eastern cuisine. She loves to see how her food brings joy to people’s faces and enjoys interacting with guests from all over the world. Take a flight to the Middle East and experience the warmth and generosity of the Jordanian culture without leaving LA.

This was her first class and her earnestnesss and desire to make sure we had a great time was endearing. She did not disappoint as we had a wonderful time. We went on date night and sat with a great couple half our age but the learning and laughing provided a commonality that made the night memorable. Jacquie and her husband were gracious hosts and excellent teachers and all three tables seemed to be having a great time. Our falafel and hummus was scrumptious and we cannot wait to try it at home. Great class for anyone wanting to have a fun time with a new experience. Will recommend this class to everyone. Jacquie- can’t wait for you to host another class- you were awesome!
