Steamed Bao Buns

Description

Learn the art of making soft, pillowy Bao Buns completely from scratch! Easily steamed, they are even more fun to fill with your favorite ingredients.

Learn the importance of patience and proofing when it comes to dough, as we tackle one of the most ancient Chinese delicacies. Hone your knife skills and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese ingredients. Choose between a traditional pork and ginger filling or a vegetarian filling (featuring tofu) to stuff your buns, before digging in to enjoy your delicious creations.

No experience necessary! The only requirement is a fun attitude and a love of good food. We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in and get settled, wearing your mask. Please note that class will be hosted in Chef Amanda's house with ample space to social distance booking parties from one another. Chef Amanda is also maintaining a sanitized space, for your safety, as per CDC guidelines. You are invited to BYOB beer, wine, or champagne with you to class.

Chief Amanda was fantastic. During the class she explained everything that was happening in a way the novice could understand. Having the ability to have hands on helped greatly on the how to. I will forwards to her next class on something new to try. By the way my wife will now have one of the thing likes to have at a simple request of “would please make our Bao Buns”. Thank you chief.
