French Bistro Date Night: Chicken a l'Orange

We cordially invite you to a fabulous French cooking and dining experience hosted by award winning Chef Houman, in his home based in National Harbor. Taking a spin on classic French dish, Duck a l'Orange, this class will feature chicken instead of duck while involving all the authentic flavors of sophisticated orange sauce infused with Grand Marnier. Accompanying the main dish is simple yet elegant wilted spinach. In addition, you will enjoy fresh Organic Field Greens in Poached Tomato Cup with Herb Vinaigrette for a complete culinary experience. This would be an excellent way to treat your special someone on a fun, delicious, and unforgettable date!

In this highly hands-on, interactive class, you will learn step by step how to clean and prepare the chicken, create orange sauce from scratch, then properly cooking the spinach side dish. There will be plenty of practical and helpful knife skills along every step that you can apply in your own home kitchen. Once you have finished making you dish, we will dine together and say cheers to celebrate the fruits of our labor!

When we say "small group size", we mean it. Chef Houman is currently only receiving up to 8 people to his class at a time. If you are joining with a partner or another pair of friends, please make one booking on behalf of everyone. Whether it is your partner, friend, or a family member, you can be sure this experience will help create special memories in a safe, intimate, and clean setting. No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets in case you wish to recreate the dish on your own after the class. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Chef Houman has an exceptional record of service and international experience at noted establishments such as Corporate chef for IPIC Gold Entertainments, Ritz Carlton Company, Vail Resorts and Spa, and Schoenborn Hotel in Vienna. He brings more than 35 years of expertise in all aspects of culinary arts and hospitality for Five Star/Five Diamond Hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and world-class resorts. After opening over a dozen restaurants for the Ritz Carlton in cities such as Barcelona, Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai, and Osaka, two of those restaurants now have Two Michelin Stars. Chef Houman has supervised large staffs of over 100 people and multi-million-dollar food and beverage budgets. Many of San Francisco top chefs developed their careers under Chef Houman, when he was the Culinary Director of the Ritz Carlton Hotels. In December 2015, Chef Houman competed against Iron Chef Bobby Flay on the Food Network, and has also been featured on Rachael Ray, Discovery Network, and NBC’s. Today Show with Katie Couric during Winter Olympics in Park City and Torino.

Where the class will be
Guest requirement
This class takes place in Chef Houman's clean and charming home in National Harbor neighborhood of Maryland. Guests are invited to BYOB wine, champagne or beer. Guests are advised to bring their own aprons to class. Masks should be worn at all times and gloves will be provided. You will be seated with your party, otherwise social distancing guidelines will be in place.
Cancellation policy
Reschedule request have to be made at least 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. Cancellations are not permitted and tickets are non-refundable.See terms and policy.

This was such a lovely experience! Chef Houman is so knowledgeable. I bought this as a mother's day gift and it was really great to do with my mom. Chef Houman is very hospitable, easy to talk to, and prepared so wonderfully for the class. The food was amazing! Pinterest worthy.

Omg!!!! So glad I found this event by accident!! Chef Houman was AMAZING!!!!! His house and kitchen were immaculate!!! The class was very informative!! I absolutely loved Chef Houman's personality and energy!!!! I will definitely be back!!!!!!! Me and one of my best friends came to the class and we absolutely loved it!!!!!!! Parking was easy, started on time, food was delicious!!!! I do not cook at all and I left feeling empowered to make a gourmet meal!!!! Loved this experience!!!!

Omg.....this was absolutely amazing! My significant other and I wanted to get out of the house for date night. Chef Houman is amazing! He's very polite and his kitchen is absolutely beautiful. The cooking class was fun and had the right amount of people (2 other couples). The food was delicious and the instructions were easy to follow. We will definitely try to recreate this meal at home!!
