Empanadas are pastries traditionally filled with seafood, meat, cheese, vegetables or fruit. They're thought to have originated in Spain, where the Empanada Festival is part of Galician culture.
In this fun and interactive class, you will be guided step-by-step in making empanadas and a tasty dipping sauce both entirely from scratch. You will learn to make the dough to then fill with the Chef's recipe featuring ground beef. Next, the Chef will demonstrate how to fill your empanada disks before folding and sealing the edges.
Not only is this class going to teach you how to make a traditional Latin and South American dish, but you will be able to do so with a healthier and equally appetizing twist, by baking instead of frying your empanadas. While the empanadas are in the oven, you'll learn an easy recipe for a zesty avocado jalapeno aioli. This is the perfect sauce to complement your empanadas, especially for dipping. Plus it's an easy one to make at home again and again!
No experience is required! All equipment and ingredients will be provided. Our events are casual and meant to be fun, relaxing and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.
