Tiramisu and Biscotti are two iconic Italian desserts.
In this memorable, hands-on class, you will learn to make a classic Tiramisu and Biscotti with chopped nuts and dried cranberries from scratch. Tiramisu is one of the most acclaimed Italian desserts. Lady fingers dipped in coffee, layered with a mixture of eggs, sugar & mascarpone cheese, and topped with cocoa are the key ingredients and flavors that make this dessert unlike any other.
Our Pastry Chef Instructor will take you through a detailed demonstration and history on both desserts, before you will be guided step-by-step in creating the Tiramisu with enough time for it to set before the end of class. You will use store bought lady fingers (though we'll share the recipe to make your own at home), in the interest of time, but your instructor will teach his own recipe to make the Mascarpone from scratch. Then you will transition over to making your biscotti. Learn how to make the dough from scratch and fold in your dried fruits and nuts of choice. Then grasp the reason why biscotti means 'twice baked' in Italian. You will bake your dough first, low and slow, before taking it out to slice and bake again. Master these easy recipes and you won't have to rely on your local Italian bakery or cafe the next time you're looking to entertain guests.
No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the baking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.
