Chinese Dumplings

Description

Discover the flavor-packed world of dumplings!

Master the basics of dumpling wrapping in different shapes including triangular, crescent, and pleated. You’ll get a chance to work with high-quality store-bought dumpling wrappers. You’ll also get to practice your knife skills and learn how to make your own fillings (vegetarian options are available). Find out about our favorite resources in San Diego for sourcing ingredients and basic equipment for dumpling making at home.

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, especially if you’re part of a large group. Guests are invited to BYOB!

Meet your instructor

Chef Scott began his culinary career 20 years ago in New York. Having a desire for living a life full of creativity and adventure, he combined his passions for entertaining and food with his love for bringing people together and creating unforgettable moments. Chef Scott has crafted his culinary skills working for some of the top chefs and restaurant groups in New York and Southern California. His eagerness to explore various flavors, the familiar and the unfamiliar, is what makes him a unique chef.

Although Scott started his career 20 years ago, he was always interested in food. Coming from Italian parents who love food and bring the family together over epic cuisines, it is not shocking he made the transition from musician to chef. After taking some time off from being a full time drummer and instructor, Scott decided to attend culinary classes along with apprenticing at his favorite local restaurant. The Chef & Owner was not only an inspiration but mentor in many ways leading him to his goals of cooking and making everyone around him happy through food. It wasn’t long after that the California dream was realized and San Diego was just beginning to find its culinary identity- the perfect template and climate to craft his new culinary ideas.
