You are in for a real treat! In this intimate and exclusive culinary experience taking place at Chef Houman's home based in National Harbor, you will learn how to execute an indulgent Italian meal consisting of fresh hand-made classic potato gnocchi paired with two mouthwatering sauces - authentic pomodoro and creamy parmesan bechamel sauce (like alfredo sauce.) In addition, you will enjoy fresh Organic Field Greens in Poached Tomato Cup with Herb Vinaigrette for a complete culinary experience. Once you master the basics of fresh pasta making in this class, you will be equipped to try different shapes and forms with your newfound knowledge and tips and tricks bestowed by this award winning chef who competed against Bobby Flay!

In this highly hands-on, interactive class, you will learn step by step how to create, knead, and shape fresh classic potato gnocchi from scratch. If you thought tomato and cream sauces were boring, think again! You will learn every step that goes into making the silky smooth sauce that can make or break the overall dish. From poaching and peeling the fresh tomatoes to chiffonading the basil for the pomodoro sauce and grating fresh nut meg into your rich and luxurious bechamel cream sauce, you will get to participate in every step along the way to make great, sensational sauces. Not only will you have mastered the tips and tricks of creating home-made sauces but also you will not want to go back to store bought, jarred pasta sauces ever again after this class! Once you have finished making you dish, we will dine together and say cheers to celebrate the fruits of our labor.

When we say "small group size", we mean it. Chef Houman is currently only receiving up to 8 people to his class at a time. If you are joining with a partner or another pair of friends, please make one booking on behalf of everyone. Whether it is your partner, friend, or a family member, you can be sure this experience will help create special memories in a safe, intimate, and clean setting. No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets in case you wish to recreate the dish on your own after the class. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Chef Houman has an exceptional record of service and international experience at noted establishments such as Corporate chef for IPIC Gold Entertainments, Ritz Carlton Company, Vail Resorts and Spa, and Schoenborn Hotel in Vienna. He brings more than 35 years of expertise in all aspects of culinary arts and hospitality for Five Star/Five Diamond Hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and world-class resorts. After opening over a dozen restaurants for the Ritz Carlton in cities such as Barcelona, Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai, and Osaka, two of those restaurants now have Two Michelin Stars. Chef Houman has supervised large staffs of over 100 people and multi-million-dollar food and beverage budgets. Many of San Francisco top chefs developed their careers under Chef Houman, when he was the Culinary Director of the Ritz Carlton Hotels. In December 2015, Chef Houman competed against Iron Chef Bobby Flay on the Food Network, and has also been featured on Rachael Ray, Discovery Network, and NBC’s. Where the class will be
Guest requirement
This BYOB class takes place in Chef Houman's clean and charming home in National Harbor neighborhood of Maryland. At this time, all guests are required to wear masks during class regardless of vaccination status. Your chef instructor will wear a mask throughout the entire class as well. Guests will be allowed to remove their masks when eating and drinking. As a result, booking parties will be socially distanced from one another while eating. The nature of our classes are set up so that booking parties will work together during class, sharing both ingredients and equipment.
Cancellation policy
Reschedule request have to be made at least 48 hours before the class for groups of less than 6 people and 14 days for groups of 6 people or more. Cancellations are not permitted and tickets are non-refundable.See terms and policy.
