Join us for a night in Italy to learn the secret of creating tortellini from scratch. These Italian "dumplings" stuffed with rich ricotta cheese and tossed in satisfying scratch-made bolognese sauce will be sure to lure even the pickiest eater to the table.
In this fun and hands-on class, you will be guided step-by-step through basic knife skills, how to make pasta dough and filling from scratch, shaping the dough into tortellini, then cooking them to perfection. You will also partake in making a classic bolognese sauce to pull the dish together. Once you have created your masterpiece, you will then plate, garnish and devour your creations with your fellow foodies joining you for this delicious cooking party! You will gain insight on how to source fresh, seasonal ingredients and specialty spices in order to recreate the perfect Italian date night at home.
No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).
Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Aprons will be provided for you to use throughout class. Our venue partner, Eclipse Chocolate, will have a selection of beverages for purchase. Please note that drinks are available for purchase from the venue and are NOT included in your ticket price. Outside drinks are not permitted.
Chef Scott began his culinary career 20 years ago in New York. Having a desire for living a life full of creativity and adventure, he combined his passions for entertaining and food with his love for bringing people together and creating unforgettable moments. Chef Scott has crafted his culinary skills working for some of the top chefs and restaurant groups in New York and Southern California. His eagerness to explore various flavors, the familiar and the unfamiliar, is what makes him a unique chef.
Although Scott started his career 20 years ago, he was always interested in food. Coming from Italian parents who love food and bring the family together over epic cuisines, it is not shocking he made the transition from musician to chef. After taking some time off from being a full time drummer and instructor, Scott decided to attend culinary classes along with apprenticing at his favorite local restaurant. The Chef & Owner was not only an inspiration but mentor in many ways leading him to his goals of cooking and making everyone around him happy through food. It wasn’t long after that the California dream was realized and San Diego was just beginning to find its culinary identity- the perfect template and climate to craft his new culinary ideas.
