Roll up your sleeves and dive into the heart of Chinese culinary tradition in this hands-on dumpling-making workshop!
Perfect for beginners and food lovers alike, this interactive two-hour class will teach you how to make dumplings completely from scratch, just as they've been crafted in home kitchens for generations. Led by Chef Alyssa, you'll begin with a brief look at the cultural history and symbolism of dumplings, including their special role in Lunar New Year celebrations. Then, it’s time to get cooking!
What You'll Make:
You’ll mix and knead your own dough, hand-roll dumpling wrappers, and prepare delicious fillings, including shrimp and vegetable varieties. Along the way, you’ll practice essential knife skills and master a variety of folding techniques such as the half-moon, triangle, and pleated half-moon. You’ll also learn key cooking methods like pan-frying and steaming to achieve perfectly cooked dumplings every time.
And of course, the best part: enjoying your handmade dumplings fresh from the pan! By the end of class, each student will have the skills and confidence to recreate dumplings at home. Whether you're here to sharpen your culinary skills or simply have fun, this class is the perfect blend of tradition, technique, and taste.
No Experience Is Required!
We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as enjoyable for cooking enthusiasts who want to be involved in every step as it is for first-timers who prefer to observe and assist (or just taste-test).
