Mild, milky, smooth, and irresistibly silky- there’s nothing quite like fresh mozzarella. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to craft this Italian favourite from scratch.
We’ll begin with the fundamentals, as Chef John demonstrates how milk transforms into curds, giving you a clear understanding of the cheesemaking process. Then it’s your turn to get hands-on - stretching, folding, and shaping curds into beautiful mozzarella and burrata.
Along the way, you’ll learn how to select the right curd, master water temperature, season correctly, and perfect the techniques needed to create your own soft, glossy cheese.
To finish, we’ll enjoy your freshly made mozzarella paired with bruschetta- simple, delicious, and the perfect way to celebrate your new skills. You’re welcome to enjoy your cheese on the spot or take it home to savor later.
No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).
The nature of our classes is set up so that booking parties will work together during class, sharing both ingredients and equipment. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Drinks are available for purchase from the venue and are NOT included in the ticket price. Outside drinks are not allowed. 21+ only. For class related questions please contact our customer support team via email at hello@cocusocial.com. Our venue partner provides the space for us to conduct class, but our customer support team will be able to assist with any questions you may have related to this class.
Chef John has spent the past 13 years immersed in European life and culinary traditions. His training took him from mastering pasta in Florence, to perfecting Pizza Napoletana in Naples, and learning the art of cheesemaking in Calabria. After a successful career in finance, John decided to follow his true passion- food. Today, he specializes in handcrafted pasta and artisan bread, blending technique with creativity in every dish.
When he’s not in the kitchen, you’ll find him exploring new destinations, savoring great wines, or unwinding on any beach he can find.
