Pierogi and Beer Pairing

Our newest class combines a cooking lesson on how to master the classic Polish dumplings, Pierogies, along with some beer (Pilsner) education from Chef Michele, who is also a certified Sommelier!

Pierogies are similar to dumplings and empanadas on the outside, but the most traditional way to fill them is with potatoes. You will learn two different fillings in this class, classic mashed potato & mashed potato with cheese & onion.

Join Chef Michele in her Cape Cod kitchen as she guides you step-by-step through the process of making your dough from scratch. Together you will make your fillings and assemble your pierogies before dropping them into simmering water to cook.

Then how you participate in the beer pairing portion of class is entirely up to you! Chef Michele recommends having Eastern European Pilsner Beer available to enjoy with your Pierogies, but also to discuss the flavor compatibility and how you can consider pairing brews with your food in the future.

Invite your friends and family to join you so you can connect virtually and enjoy a fun evening of cooking and drinking beer together. No experience is required!

You will receive an email with the equipment and ingredients list. However, the main ingredients required to participate along with the chef include: all purpose flour, salt, cream cheese (or sour cream), egg, butter, milk, potatoes, yellow onion, cheddar cheese and your selected beer(s) of choice.

Measure out your ingredients ahead of the session, break out the beer and let’s get cooking together!

Chef Michele is a certified Culinarian and certified Wine and Spirits expert, having extensive experience as a Pastry Chef and Prep Chef. She received her Certified Culinarian and Prochef Certification from the Culinary Institute of America. Additionally, Chef Michele is a Wine Steward and Sommelier, receiving her Certified Wine and Spirits Expert Level 3 from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET). In addition to these accolades, Chef Michele is a successful business owner and operator, having experience with several internet sales and services businesses. Chef Michele enjoys elegant entertaining, fishing, Cape Cod beach life and creating new and exciting culinary treats! She also thrives on sharing her culinary and wine knowledge with all!

Michelle was so attentive and helpful in guiding our group to making pierogis. I’ve made pierogis once before and although they were good, they weren’t great. These were great and the tips Michelle gave allowed me to go forward knowing how to make really impressive pierogis of all different types!

Chef Michele is an outstanding instructor! She was so calm and reassuring! She made sure everyone was included in the class conversation! I was a little nervous about rolling the pierogi dough since I haven’t rolled any dough in years! I found my rolling pin and mat in my garage!! Michele made it so easy to understand! We all rolled the dough and made wonderful pierogis! She gave us many options and ideas to make different kinds of pierogis! It was very organized and lots of fun! It was a wonderful bonus to be in class with my daughter who lives in LA and I live in PA!! It was a wonderful Mother’s Day gift!!
