Japanese Street Food: Okonomiyaki

Description
Escape to the enchanting streets of Japan as you learn how easy it is to make this iconic street food. The word "okonomiyaki" is derived from "okonomi" meaning "as you like" and "yaki" meaning "grilled. It's commonly referred to as being a Japanese pancake. Accurate to its name, okonomiyaki can be served with a variety of toppings. This class is perfect for anyone who enjoys Asian flavors and wants to learn more about how to recreate these flavors and techniques at home!

In this entertaining, hands-on class, you will be guided step-by-step in creating the perfect batter that holds everything together. As you create your vegetarian base consisting of cabbage and scallions you will also have the option of topping your artfully crafted Okonomiyaki with shrimp or bacon.

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you do not already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who is happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. BYOB is restricted. Our venue partner, Duckfoot Brewing will have a great selection of crafted pour available for purchase. 21+ only.

Absolutely incredible! Everything was laid out and explained so well. Chef Scott was a great teacher and very engaging. And, best of all, the okonomiyaki was DELICIOUS. I will be making this all the time at home.

My husband thoroughly enjoyed Chef Scott’s okonomiaki class. (The hardest thing was learning how to pronounce it!) He was a great, patient instructor who kept the class going at a good pace and was always available for answering questions. The food was delicious and we look forward to serving it to our grown kids in a few weeks!
