Handmade Dumpling Party

Description

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to learn the craft of making Asian Dumplings!

You’ll start by making gluten-free, vegan millet dumpling dough from scratch using sorghum, rice, and tapioca flours. Then, you'll learn how to create two protein-packed fillings - one with chicken and one with tofu, along with napa cabbage, and shiitake mushrooms, and a flavorful sesame-tamari dipping sauce. In this class, you’ll master handling gluten-free dough without gums or binding agents—skills you can use for tortillas and more. Discover how to shape dumplings into beautiful crescent forms and cook them to perfection! You'll learn two cooking techniques - pan-sautéing and steaming, so you can decide which one you love most! When everything is complete, you will enjoy your tasty creations and leave class knowing how to confidently source ingredients and make this delicious dish at home!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you do not already have them in your home kitchen. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who is happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. BYOB - beer and wine is welcome for those over the age of 21. To ensure the safety and enriching experience of all participants, we require children aged 14 to 17 be accompanied by a parent or guardian during our cooking classes. Classes are intended for adults 18+.

Chef Puja has celiac disease and follows a dairy-free diet, which has opened the door to the magical world of ancient grains and millets. They’ve completely transformed how she cooks, and now she can’t stop experimenting with them! Whether it’s dumplings or tortillas, she loves turning simple ingredients into something exciting. She's all about making cooking fun, approachable, and a little adventurous. In her classes you can expect to laugh a little (or a lot) and create something delicious!

I had the most wonderful experience attending the dumpling made from millets cooking class hosted by Puja Agrawal. Puja has such a warm and welcoming teaching style that made everyone feel comfortable and confident, even for someone like me who’s not very experienced in the kitchen. She explained each step with great detail, sharing helpful tips and tricks along the way, which made the process easy to follow. The dumplings turned out amazing—flavorful, nutritious, and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn new cooking skills while having a great time. Thank you, Puja, for a memorable experience—I can’t wait to try making these at home!"

Puja was a very educated and thoughtful instructor. She had great knowledge and passion about the ingredients we were using, particularly the gluten free flours we cooked with. Simultaneously, she made the whole experience very fun and easy going and the dumplings were delicious! As someone who loves to cook and also has celiac, I will be on the look out for more classes with Puja.

We had a great time, and the flavors of the food were delicious! I do think it would have been nice to get a chance to have hands-on experience with making the dough and the filling ourselves, and there was a lot of waiting at certain points in time. Just considering crowd management with the space would be a good idea. Thank you for the great experience!
