If you're like us and binge watched both seasons of Hulu's The Bear, then you are probably catching yourself often dreaming of the recipes featured on the show.
In this fun and hands-on class Chef Jaime will teach you to cook like Carmy in her home kitchen with two delicious and crave-worthy dishes: fresh pasta carbonara and a mini chocolate cake (frosted to perfection). We are in Chicago, after all!.
Our expert Chef Instructor will teach you to make pasta dough from scratch by cracking an egg in a well of flour then mixing it all together with a fork. After forming and kneading your dough, you will roll it out and shape it before cooking it al dente. Then we're ready for the carbonara, where adding every ingredient at the right time is key. This is certainly a dish you'll want to make at home over and over again.
Each guest will bake their own mini chocolate cake and learn the art of frosting so they can ice and decorate their own. It's the perfect dessert for beginners and a recipe you'll never leave behind.
No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).
The Bear Trivia is most welcome, but it is not a requirement to have watched the show in order to enjoy this class.
Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may not be able to be accommodated. Please note that class will be hosted in Chef Jaime's apartment. Chef Jaime shares her home with 2 small dogs weighing under 30 pound combined. Though they will be in another room to themselves throughout the class, this class is not suitable to those allergic or afraid of dogs. Guests are invited to BYOB (beer and wine only).
Chef Jaime graduated culinary school in 2010, where she studied savory cooking, with a very soft spot for sweets and pastry. She then worked in a recreational cooking school for two years covering every kind of cuisine and technique people wanted to learn. Some chefs prefer to be creative (cooking) and others methodical (baking), but she loves both so she has worked in both savory and sweet kitchens since then. Jaime has tips and tricks that work for all kinds/levels of learners. She's worked everywhere from small cafes to fine dining and everything in between and loves questions. She's excited to share knowledge!
